Magic St. Petersburg: A Walk and Photoshoot with Tatyana Neklyudova
I love it when life is multifaceted, rich, and full of impressions!
And I adore Saint Petersburg. I adore walking through Petersburg. No matter how much I wander here, I always manage to get lost, and then, while finding my way back to Nevsky Prospekt, I discover absolute architectural treasures, monuments, amazing museums, and wonderful little cafes or shops.
But this visit to Petersburg gave me more than just architectural discoveries. It gave me a meeting with an amazing person.
A Meeting Arranged by Chance
This time, my trip to the Northern Capital turned out to be special. Thanks to a project by incredible photographers and videographers — Marina Guryeva and Elena Shumilova — I met Tatyana Neklyudova.
Chance brought Tatyana into the modeling business after the age of 60. Today, she is a famous “silver age” top model, whose photos have graced the covers of many fashion magazines. She acts in films, travels, and lives life to the fullest. And yet, she remains an incredibly sweet, graceful, delicate woman with an open soul.
We met to do an artistic photoshoot in the atmospheric corners of Petersburg. We moved from one location to another several times, chasing the light, looking for interesting angles. But the most important thing happened between takes.
A Conversation Along the Way
Since my age allows me to be bold (and also because I simply love sincere conversations), I approached Tatyana, and we started talking on our way to the next shooting spot.
She told me about her shoots, her successes, and some difficulties that arose during our post-COVID times. She mentioned that filming for a movie in India, where Tatyana was to play the Queen Mother, should be resuming soon. Her eyes lit up when she spoke about it.
But the most important thing she shared was a simple secret to happiness.
We create our own good mood.
Tatyana smiles a lot. Not because she has to for the shot. But because she truly tastes and feels the fullness of life. And that energizes everyone around.
I am very grateful to her for these wonderful photos, for her kindness and sincerity. For letting me into her day and sharing a piece of her energy.
About How We Create the Holiday Ourselves
This conversation happened at the end of November. And I caught myself thinking that Tatyana’s words perfectly echoed what I had been thinking myself on the eve of December.
Tomorrow is December 1st. It’s clear now that the chimes and champagne won’t bring the New Year’s mood by themselves. We will bring it ourselves. If we make an effort, arrange something new, something festive, smelling of frost, snow, tangerines, and pine needles.
That’s exactly what my New Year’s studio photoshoots will be like this year. We will create the celebration. Together with my subjects. It will be a dress rehearsal for the New Year. And it will definitely be bright, fun, and festive.
The Magic of Petersburg and Inspiration
This trip to Petersburg reminded me: real magic happens not only in beautiful interiors or on picturesque streets. It happens in dialogue, in a glance, in the smile of a stranger who suddenly becomes a kindred spirit.
I returned to Yekaterinburg with a suitcase full of impressions and new photographs. And with gratitude to this city and this woman.
Thank you, Petersburg. Thank you, Tatyana.
